Somewhat Political Rant

I'm not one to blog on the issue of politics - I feel its a touchy subject and I like to spew about cold hearts rather than reality. But, this has been plaguing my mind lately and since this is my social voice, here goes:

It's apparent in our society that people have this expectation of things happening with lightning speed. Like attorneys who expect things to be done yesterday, people in general, want a response/reaction/conclusion/answer/etc. within seconds, and may even request that it had been done yesterday as well. And why is this? Well look at that spiffy gadget in your hand - that one that lets you connect with the world and all your friends on 3G, 4G, or whatever-G speed. THAT is the reason we as a society have these ridiculous expectations. Not to mention we are e-mail driven in corporate America and the idea of an actual letter sent via regular post seems bizarre - why not scan and e-mail? This all leads into the idea that we expect a response and we expect it quickly.

And the same can be said about politics.

We escorted Obama into the White house with some of us expecting change right away and some of us simply hoping for change within the future. I won't speak about those who did not vote for him - ya'll won't be reading this anyways. However, with this new president coming in to office we were expecting and hoping for change. There are those of us in this political camp who know and understand that true and sufficient change takes time. It doesn't take days, we know it may even takes years. And this is where I hit a wall. Why do people think that change can happen over night? I pose a few questions to you all who truly feel that Obama sucks because the imminent change has not happened as quickly as you expected:
1.) do you cry when you don't get an answer via text right away from whoever about whatever? what about email?
2.) do you think our biggest accomplishments in this nation, woman's right to vote, desegregation, abolition of slavery, etc., happened in mere days or months?
3.) do you think the last Depression we encountered was significantly fixed within one or two years time?
Go over those questions and think about the actual and true answer.

The bottom line: Change takes time.

And this leads me to my final thought: We have an election coming up right around the corner. If people truly think that because the past two years have sucked that bad (and really, have they?) that they can hand over a majority of votes to Republicans and think that by doing so they can automatically expect change - you're blind, brainwashed and need a new perspective. Harsh? Yes. But I think some people forget that change takes time. We escorted Obama and the Democrats into the White house two years ago to fix a mess that, well, let's face it, was brought about by a Republican dominated White house. You're telling me you'd like to hand back the power to these people and think change will occur immediately? Obviously I'm shaking my head at you and looking at you like you're crazy.

If I can say one thing that I hope lingers upon my readers it is this: keep your mind open, your perspective open, be educated and aware and understand, Change Takes Time. If you have absolutely no faith in the powers that be in the White house then by all means cast your vote accordingly. But if you understand who the Democrats are cleaning up after and that change cannot simply occur overnight, then cast your vote to keep our nation on the path it has started. Have faith.
